I started at a family-owned radio station (WATC AM 900) in Gaylord right after my 15th birthday. I was absolutely horrible! I couldn’t drive, but rode my bike and a snowmobile into work Sunday mornings at 5am to put the station on the air. In 1984 we put the 95.3 frequency on in Gaylord. I climbed the original tower 100 feet up to help hang the antenna! 2026 begins my 45th year behind the mic.

I have had some unbelievable experiences, because of radio. I have flown in and taken the controls on a few planes, flew in a Hot Air Balloon (crashed in one too), been places and apart of things I never would have imagined if I would not have had the opportunity to work in this business.

I have met people of all walks of life and found that everyone has a story! I have had the good fortune to meet artists, musicians, actors, politicians and athletes. I have broadcast from fairs, concerts, hotel rooms, airports, docks, forts, business, sports arenas and school buses! It’s been a fun ride.

I love how radio can still impact lives and make a difference. From offering companionship, information, emergency notices or helping a cause or family in need. I love the being a part of making our community better.

The thing I’m most proud of though is being a dad! I have two sons. I will talk about them from time to time and I’m sure that they would like to hide, but I’m proud of them, even when they give me a good story! I live in Traverse City. I coach LEAP sports, volunteer at Red Wings Training Camp, have been on the TCAPS Board of Education, was Past President of the National Cherry Festival, currently serve on the Coast Guard City Committee as well as many other charities and organizations.
