Samuel Roy Hagar, born in California, is best known as a rock vocalist, songwriter, musician and business man. He is popularly known as The Red Rocker. In the 1970s he played with Montrose, a hard rock band. He might be best known for his popular hit in 1984 "I Can't Drive 55". Sammy replaced David Lee Roth - the lead singer of rock band Van Halen. In 2017, he began touring with supergroup The Circle.

He founded the Cabo Wabo restaurant chain and developed Santo’s Tequila Blanco and Mezquila brands. Hager has two daughters and two sons, from two marriages.
